Physical Demand Analysis

The purpose of the Physical Demands Analysis (also sometimes referred to as a job analysis) is to evaluate the injured worker's physical demands as it relates to his or her job setting with his or her specific job functions. The Worxsite Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) will provide appropriate documentation of specific physical requirements that one needs to safely perform the job. By using this approach, workers can safely be returned to or kept at their work place. The PDA allows the physician and therapist to make accurate and reliable decisions regarding the best plan for the injured worker. It also provides the employer information necessary to make job modifications and meet the demands of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The PDA is used to determine why an injured individual, who is still working, is not responding as expected to rehabilitation efforts. Oftentimes, a simple modification, costing little or nothing, will make the job site more ergonomically suitable to the worker. The resulting report incorporates analysis of the essential and marginal job functions and includes recommendations specific to the injured worker and job setting.

The benefits of this assessment include:

  • Reduction in lost time and treatment costs
  • ADA Compliance
  • A method for reporting, assessment and documentation of rehabilitation effectiveness
  • Provides a clear description of physical requirements to safely perform job functions
  • A multipurpose tool with proactive uses for Human Resource Managers as well as post-injury uses for risk management and assessment
